And if the idea of making jewellery doesn’t float your boat, why not pop in and fill in a comment/suggestion card and let us know what activities you’d like us to offer!

Request for premises for National Youthbike Project practice sessions in Boston

The Boston Rotary Club are endeavoring to get a National Youthbike project off the ground and have everything in place with exception of Premises.

They require premises in the Boston area large enough for 6 to 8 teenagers to work on a motor cycle and present it in a national competition.

The basic idea is for the recruitment a group of 6 to 8 young people either gender aged between 14 to 18 (ages not critical) these could possibly be youngsters who do not do too well academically or are disadvantaged in some way and perhaps feel bypassed by the system. They will supply them with a motorcycle not necessarily in running order,  for them to refurbish or change it, then present their finished product in the National competition.

They will be supervised at all times by an experienced mechanic and a Rotarian will be on hand to offer advice if needed. They will need to obtain all parts and technical advice themselves via the internet or other alternatives. The group will decide for themselves what form the finished article should take, it will be entirely their own idea. Some very imaginative ideas have forthcoming and do the participants great credit

The benefits for them are that they will earn Teamwork, Computer skills, Value of money, Negotiating and Ordering skills and Communicating and it will also instil a feeling of Pride and Achievement.

Further information can be obtained online at the National Youthbike website w

Any assistance that anyone can give will be very much appreciated
